240 clutch cables - any updates? 200 1992

Hi all,

I've been combing over the threads about 240 clutch cables, and it seems like the general consensus is that cables where the adjuster moves along metal sheath are better, and that the Gemo and/or Volvo branded ones are the way to go.

Which brings me to my current situation: I just converted my '92 245 to a manual, and I ordered the Volvo-branded cable from iPd. It showed up in Volvo packaging, however, it has an adjuster that slides on plastic threads. Everything I've read indicates that this is an inferior design to the metal-sheath model. The metal sheath model, however, seems to be no longer available.

My concern is that this style of clutch cable will break my firewall (especially since I had to drill a hole for the cable).

Are these plastic-threaded Volvo cables any better than the ScanTech variety?

Thanks!
Jesse
