OK:
Checked the details on my 2qts. of full Syn 75/90 gear oil and it noted sevral uses including Man Trans. It has to be the same as RED LINE.
I pulled the car up on the ramps and confirmed that I could loosen the fill plug.
Opened the drain plug and got out about 1.5 qts.
Both the drain and fill plugs have magnetic centers and were filled with gunk and some metal spines. Cleaned them out with brake cleaner blasts and a reg.
Replaced drain plug and filled using a "mustard squeeze bottle" a short one that allowed me to get a dwonward angle. I got all but about 4oz. in. Closed the filler plug. Took it for a short ride. The shifting is impoving and I think over some more time on the road the crud that may have hinderedd the gear movement and synchros will improve. I will get some more fluid in in a few days on a lift or on an inclined drive using my ramps to level car with access to underside.
Yes I did see evidence of a seal leak at the front/rear of the MT but based onthe fact that I drained ~1.5 qts of old MT fluid and that the car sat idle for over a year it may settle out with the new MT fluid. I will keep a eye on it.
Thanks again for the advise and comments
