Just inherited a used 1992 740 Wagon. Want to put $1000-1500 in it....

So I have just been given a 1992 740 Wagon by my brother. This is my first Volvo. He tells me it will need some work. Mainly looking at a water pump, timing belt, transmission mount, drive shaft mounts (?), and new shocks/struts. I'm looking to put about $1000-1500 in it. Motor is in good shape and it runs as is...it just vibrates and makes LOTS of noises. Cosmetically, the car has been parked under a tree for a while and the white paint job needs some help. I'm thinking of having it buffed and sealed. Had the oil changed yesterday and the guy said it looked to be in good shape considering the age and miles (215,000). My question is this, will my budget be enough to make this car a lasting addition to our family? Thanks! :)
