I had to replace the condenser on my '93 940 but during disassembly the high pressure fitting on the condenser twisted off in the nut of the pipe that connects the high pressure hose to the condenser. This part (Volvo # 3537880) is no longer offered by Volvo and there wasn't any in stock at Borton Volvo or Lisle Volvo. I could find none in stock online. I ended up at a hydraulic repair shop that supplied me with an aluminum tube with the correct fitting and nut one one end, but just a straight pipe for the rest of the length. The shop bent it to shape for me and supplied me with a high pressure compression fitting and #271 Loctite. I cut the original tube in the middle of the longest straight run, measured the new tube (subtracting for the length of the middle of the compression fitting) and cut it. Assembled it loosely and checked fit. Then scrapped the paint off the original tube, sanded with emery paper, sprayed with brake-kleen (leaving the residue on the tubes, per shop recommendation) assembled with loctite on the tubes (good even coat on tube under compression ferrule) installed and completed tightening. I'm now waiting 4 hours for the loctite to cure then I'll evacuate system & fill and hope there isn't any leaks. When asked what they would do if this occurred in their shop, Borton Volvo parts dept. told me they would tell the customer that it couldn't be repaired, so i thought maybe someone else had run into this problem and could us this as a solution.
