A couple questions pertaining to head gasket procedure 200 1990

Hi,

I'm hours away from starting headgasket job. It will be my first but I have dealt with replacing intake man. gaskets, exhaust man. gaskets and the other tidbits before so it shouldn't be too bad...yeah, ahem...shouldn't.

Anyway, I will be taking it to the machine shop upon removal. One of my questions was do most of you remove all of the sensors from the head before taking it to the machine shop-temp gauge sender, temp sensor, etc.? If so I am guessing I will need to anneal the temp sensor's washer before installation?

One last think that had me puzzled, when I called the machine shop and explained what I would need done he asked "Is it very dirty?" I replied "No, not too bad." What did he mean by that?

Thanks,

Travis
