I changed the oil breather box and flametrap on my 1990 740 wagon yesterday, a big storm was starting to brew so I had to button it up fast, lightening/thunder etc.
Noticed the big hose from the flame trap to the throttle body intake had popped off the flame trap under the intake runner, it was getting dark and started pouring down buckets, tornado warnings .
So I decided to leave it temporarily, drove home from my freinds house ok but this morning it started bucking then lost all power, can't go faster than 15-20 mph, adding more gas makes it bog down unless I ease off the gas to keep it moving along, made it back to the house very slowly.
Wondering if its related to the obvious huge vacuum loss, why it drove ok at first before starting to act up, about to go and correct the big hose now.
My thinking is the vac loss triggered the O2 sensor which is flooding it out. Possible?
My specific question is...where does the big hose from flame trap to throttle body get routed, does it go between the 3-4 intake manifold runners or does it just come out underneath?
Having trouble keeping it connected to the flame trap and wondering if the S shaped hose from the oil trap to flame trap needs turning in a different direction.
