replacement engine 200 1993

hello

pulling a 240 engine is surprisingly easy.

1. try and stick a 93 - 95 240 or NA 940 for your engine choices
these are oil squirter blocks and just better. although any 89 or newer b230 will work just fine. older ones also work but the rods were made larger 89 onward

too bad you're far away, i just finished a 93 240 engine rebuild with all new mains, rods, etc etc. i would sell it to you but the distance is factor.

2. i strongly suggest you pull the old engine and the trans OUT as ONE unit. oh sure you can split them up BUT on the install you will have a hell of a time lining up the trans with the engine if the trans is in the car. trust me on this one. pull'em both, separate and integrate on your driveway. you'll thank me.

3. get a good engine crane like harbor freight sells

4. disconnect the engine harness from under the dashboard and snake it through the firewall laying it on top of the engine. disconnect the ignition amplifier connector and snake that thru the battery tray. leaving the engine harness attached to the engine is cleaner and easier. undoing and redoing it on the driveway engine open all around and suspended off the ground is a cakewalk.

5. on the new engine make sure you replace the rear main seal and all front oil seals before installing it.

6. make sure you align the flex plate or flywheel.... CORRECTLY,. your new engine ought to be at TDC before attaching the above item. easiest way to do this is place the old engine at TDC and make 2 marks on the old flexplate/flywheel? to align with fixed block points.

7. i buy all sorts of stuff thru car-part.com and never had a problem. no good yard will sell you a bad engine and all good ones have at least a 90 day warranty. make sure you replace the water pump on the new engine before install.

email me trichard@mass.rr.com if you need any hand holding during the process. i have done this job many times.
