Towing an automatic trans with a tow dolly? 140-160

I have an opportunity to pickup another non-running 142 with an automatic, but I would have to bring it home on a tow dolly, about 200 miles. I know it is probably best to remove the drive shaft, but I want to be prepared as I think it may not be possible to remove the driveshaft. I know some people tow cars backwards with a tightly secured steering wheel and it works. Anyone ever try this with a 140? I am concerned about damaging the transmission if the drive wheels are down. Anyone know for sure if the BW35(I assume this is what's in it) can be towed, or not, with the drive wheels down and the driveshaft in?
