re: 87 245 auto - Defected Mann oil filter? 200 1987

Hi all,

I recently changed the oil. You know how the oil pressure light stays on for few seconds and goes off when you start for the first time.

This time around, the light went off as usual, then it came back again and went out. I thought it was very odd.

Any way, around 800 miles later, the light stays on for 1-2 full seconds every time during cold start.

The light does NOT come on while I am driving or idling. If I restart the car after a short or long drive, the light stays OFF.

Do I have a defected Mann oil filter? If so, I want to swap a filter only. Am I going to lose the oil a lot? I am assuming that most of the oil will stay in the oil pan area. Correct?

I am using Mobil1 Synthetic 5W-30. I don't think I dropped anything while I was replacing my rear cam seal and valve cover gasket the other day. The oil pressure sensor is new and the wiring looks good.

Thank you as always.
