How much time it takes to replace a 1800 alternator/regulator question

$180.00 is a little high, but you don't say what his labor rate is. I would charge $120.00 which is 1.5 hours of labor at $80.00 an hour. If you have A/C and the alternator belt needs to be changed, I get an extra $20.00, a quarter of an hour, to remove and install both belts. It is a pain to get the belts past the fan, especially if you have a fan shroud.

However, $170.00 is a good deal for parts, especially if you are getting a rebuilt by Bosch alternator and a new made by Bosch voltage regulator. I get $188.00 for rebuilt by Bosch alternator and a $125.00 for a made by Bosch electronic voltage regulator. Recently Bosch pricing went through the ceiling. FYI, the exact same made by Bosch voltage regulator sells for over $300.00 from Volvo.
