Let me make sure I've got this straight - driving with light seepage via the head gasket...

So I want to make sure I've got this straight. My '94 940 has some light coolant seepage via the head gasket. I've already (10K miles ago) used the little blue can of "stop leak" stuff.

Last time I had an oil change my mechanic commented that there was a little extra oil accumulation. Unfortunately I had gone a little long before that last oil change, so what he saw was not normal, but probably represented an extra six months of driving (ouch!). Not my norm, but oh well.

I want to avoid having to "do the head", so am being careful. I want to confirm if my understanding is correct:

1. Keep an eye on coolant and oil levels. Top them off if they go down.
2. Keep an eye on the engine temperature. It has always stayed pretty much dead-on the center of the indicator. If I see it overheating, IMMEDIATELY pull off the road, let it cool down, refill the coolant (I'm carrying a gallon of water with me now at all times) and oil (assuming it needs it).
3. Keep my eye on the oil. If I start to see coolant mixed with the oil then - well, it would be time to think about doing the head.

Am I correct that if I maintain my fluid levels and never see overheating and don't see coolant in the oil, then I'm good to go, as long as I can?

Anything I'm missing? Any advice on how long I might be able to nurse this engine along? I really love this car. It's been great and still runs and drives well.
