died once on trip 200

My Wife just got back from a road-trip in her 91 240 sedan while in traffic barely moving it stalled and restarted after a few minutes.
it made the other 300 miles with no problems .I did tell her not to let the fuel get below 1/2 tank after she called.
when she got home I noticed it idles rough and rich.
I ruled out a bad intake with the propane around the gasket test.
I then tested the fuel pumps and cannot hear the tank pump run even after removing the cover in the trunk. I feel this must be the problem .
any thoughts ? Thanks
