Dash trim removal 900 1992

Dear volvo426,

Hope you're well. Carefully. Very, very carefully. Do not do this when ambient temps are below, say, 20⁰C (68⁰F). Old plastic tends to be brittle, and so easily broken. Old, Cold plastic is even more brittle.

While I don't own a 960, I've removed instrument clusters in salvage yards, in order to be able to get at sunvisor connectors. When I remove parts from a salvage yard car, I try to the doing of damage. While I may not need a part, that part may be long-sought by someone else.

These chrome trim strips are secured by "tabs" on the back edge, that fit into recesses. Start at the edge closest to the driver's door. Use a small, flat-blade screwdriver (3mm- / 1/8"-wide tip). Insert the tip at the end of the strip and very gently lever towards you, the end up the strip. Slowly work your way towards the center console.

I presume you know how to remove the instrument cluster, so will not set forth that procedure.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

Spook
