D-jet Era Voltage Regulator Fix From K-jet.org 140-160

1974 164E

After my instrument voltage regulator died and I couldn't find a replacement I decided to perform the mod from K-jet.org and replace the old style regulator with a solid-state Texas Instruments 7810.

Before my original regulator died my temperature gauge always read perfectly in the middle at N at operating temperature and my fuel gauge was accurate.

After my original regulator died my temperature gauge read high but never in the red and my fuel gauge read high and never went below 1/4 tank.

I ordered the exact part number listed on K-jet.org and everything went as expected. The fuel gauge seems to be working perfectly but now the temperature gauge always reads cool.

Anyone perform this mod? Should I suspect the sender? The regulator?

Thanks
