Hard first shift from first to second then O.K. 900 1994

My Regina brick acts strange. After sitting overnight or few hours it gets to 4500 RPM to shift from first to second and it goes smooth after that, even when I stop and go it is smooth between each gear. The milage is 314000 km (Canadien eeh?). Sea foam? Junk the car ( no way!). What could be the fix?
