whooshing noise on acceleration under car rear 200 1989

350k auto with used aw70 installed 1500 miles ago.

going uphill this week car started making strange whooshing/jet engine like noise from below and to rear. doesn't do it at idle or on level roads if i feed in throttle slow. only under load. tough to locate as i'm only one it to hear it.

power seems to be down and yesterday it threw a 2-1-2 code.( will clear code and roll the #4 fuse to see if code goes away) i bought car with 132k on it 13 years ago and cat has never been changed by me or PO.

so, does this appear to be a dead/plugged cat? or something different?

oh, it does have egr.
