Repair of windshield; stone chip.

A stone kicked up from the roadway and hit the windshield on our 1994 940.

The "star" pattern is about the size of a dime (5/8") and has not increased in size since it happened (three days ago).

It is very low on the windshield and I certainly can live with it if it doesn't start to migrate and become larger.

I called SafeLite and was quoted $105 for a repair. I told him that did not interest me and he then gave me a quote of $79.

I am unfamiliar with the behavior of damaged windshields and wonder what my options are?

Has anyone here used one of the windshield repair kits? If so what were the results. I don't care what it looks like, I just don't want it to spread across the windshield.

Randy
