Downgrade from a 16 valve head to an 8 valve head 700

Ok everyone.. haven't posted in a pretty long time but I have a question. I see tons of write ups and discussions about upgrading an 8 valve head to a 16 valve head, but I want to do the opposite. My grandfather has a 1990 Volvo 740 non turbo wagon... he just uses it to haul stuff junk to the scrap yard, speed and acceleration are not important. I've done head replacements before but never a swap. Anyone know what all is involved? Can I just go to pick and pull grab a head and a brain, grab a new timing belt and plug and play?
