baseline idle adjuster missing on 88 240 dl 200

I can't find any adjuster on this new to me car, although Bentley claims that's how idle is adjusted on the 2.2 LH. There's a hole in the bottom of the throttle body where it could fit, but it's been filled with what looks like a frost plug. It looks stock to me.

I'm curious whether it's been tinkered with, or if there's another way to adjust the base idle speed.

Another question I have which may be related. Is there any reason why the IAC valve on an 87 would be different from one on an 88? I'm trying to replace mine with a used one and have found a used one from an 87 but it has a different part # than mine. They look identical from the outside , both 3 wire.

I have the part #s, both Bosch and Volvo, but I'm not sure what to do with them.

Thanks for any help, Peter
