Which clutch? 200

Hi all,

I've got an '81 245.. It's got an '85 230F motor, with an '81 M46 gearbox. The gearbox has a terrible bearing whine, and I'm replacing it with what I think is an '84 M46. The clutch that was in between the '85 motor and the '81 gearbox has material left on it, but slips, making me think it was the wrong one. So, if I'm putting an '84 gearbox, on an '85 motor, which clutch kit do I want? I think that the gearbox shouldn't matter, and you buy the clutch that fits the motor. My parts guy isn't so sure. My thought is that an M46 is an M46 regardless of year, especially considering that the internal bearings fit the M40 from 30 years earlier. Thoughts?

Matt
