Nut Splitter

Think I understand you don't want to cut it (and the bolt) because of the sleeve being rust-welded to the bolt. Is there a chance you could just cut a side of the nut with a Dremel (using one of the new floating metal cutting discs) just shy of the threads, or even nicking some, and then following up with a chisel? I have a lot of experience doing this. Wear eye protection.

Sorry about not answering the exact question. I have no experience (in 50 years) with a nut splitter. They have always been just beyond my budget for the value returned given the clearance they need and a thousand other excuses.
