Nut Splitter

Hi Art,

Nice to read your thoughts on how to dremel a nut. I've always imagined it would be tackled sideways like chopping off a tree, but now I understand.

Imagine that nut is a nail. We always hit the nail's head with a hammer. So that's the direction of the dremel's cut. Or a log of wood. Make the log stand up and hit it on the top with axe. So the log splits.

I've never (that word again..) used a dremel before.

For the OP's problem I would get me a six-sided impact socket (black steel as it is made stronger) of the nut's size and a 24 inch breaker bar plus a cheater (because the six sided edges of that nut still looks nice - not rounded off I mean).

Regards,
Amarin.
