Rotted 740 Electrical Connectors 700

1990 740 B230F LH-2.4 AW-70 yada yada yada...

My electrical connectors all seem to be suffering from the same malady: where the wires from the harness connect to the vehicle's end of a connector the wires are all pulling out. They are held in with something like a putty that has deteriorated.

My main under-car fuel pump was my first experience with this. A local fool told me that he "fixed me up" in that regard. He fixed me, but not in a good way.

He slipped the wire cover off the car-side of the connectors that plugged into the Bosch fuel pump. Now I have two wires with the bare connectors simply plugged into the plastic receivers that shield the pins on the pump. This makes me very worried, to have exposed (or at least very open on the one end) live wires next to a place that *could* develop gas fumes. (It is not leaking at all, but it could, and that is why I am worried.)

Next, my front turn signal bulb sockets have become the same way - the metal connector has become loose in the plastic housing, pulling out freely, held in by some odd-looking putty stuff. Never seen that before. If it is common then please forgive my ignorance.

Most of the other connectors I have had to play around with have been fine.

But the main fuel pump connections from the car need to be replaced. I am assuming that if the car-side of the turn indicators both have this sort of deterioration that I would be wise to replace the bulb holder/socket AND the wire side.

Where can I find these? I see the bulb holder part all over eBay and the web, but the wired side - nothing. Same for the wires leading from the car to the main fuel pump - nothing.

I probably do not know the proper names to Google.

Can anyone provide me with the correct names of the wired ends and possibly part numbers?

I have searched now for six hours and have given up. The FAQ has been zero help in these two issues.

Thanks for reading, even if you have no help to offer.
