91 245 cruise control inoperable

Hi,

I'm getting code 311, speed signal missing.

The Bentley diagram p.360-15 shows a yellow wire going from the cruise control unit to the speedometer. I'd like to check continuity from the speedo to the control but I can't find this wire at the speedometer.

I'm not making a lot of sense from the regular wiring diagram, but it seems it might be hooked in with one of the wires going to the L connector. I start getting a headache from eyestrain every time I use those maps.

Since I last used the cruise I've changed the ignition switch and had the cluster out a couple of times, so I'm thinking that may have something to do with it.

I'll keep plugging at it, but any thoughts would be appreciated.
