Two braided ground wires coming from back of engine... 900

Hello Everybody! I just got back after 5 months working in another state and went to start my '93 940 Turbo SW and the battery was dead as I new it would be (I think I have a short somewhere). She fired right up with a jump and was idling when I turned the defrost on full and after about a minute she died (my car) instantly. No lights, no nothing. I think I blew a fuse and will start checking that as soon as possible. My question is about the two metal braided ground wires coming a flat black box in the middle of the firewall. One is going to the valve cover and the other longer one is completely loose, not attached to anything. Where does it go to? the CPS? or distributor? If it goes to the CPS it's been loose for over 6 years!
*Note: I have some water leaks coming from my windshield area which may have caused a short and to blow a fuse. Maybe??
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Bill
