Harmonic Balancer timing marks 700

...I try to used the Volvo tool 5284, it will not line up with the tensioner to hold it in place as it should.

I've had the IPD tool for years, but left it hanging on the wall for almost as long (preferring the "Rope Trick").

That said, I want to say that I don't recall the the underlined words "as it should" as part of IPD's instructions. The tensioner stud is just a convenient place to "lock" the tool as needed. It could be anywhere.

Once the unlocked Crank bolt turns freely, the tool can be removed and the crank pulley turned manually to realign the timing/belt marks if needed.

Same with tightening:
Lock the tool, tighten the Crank bolt, remove the tool, manually reposition the belt & pulleys to check for correct positioning.
