considering replacement for 960 S90-V90

"It's interesting that there aren't a lot of replies suggesting I stick with Volvo. " You did post on the RWD forum. Most of us are Luddites...the vast majority even considering the 960 to be entire vodoo...so I am not surprised in the least.

Outside of the 850 and V70 first gen (850 in all but name) I personally would not consider a FWD/AWD Volvo without a warranty. Not that they are bad but a well maintained 940 can be found and maintained by those familiar with it to make is as functionally reliable as most new cars...I do understand the difference.

If about $2-3K in preventative maintenance a year is applied to your 960, how long would remain reliable? Verses a $12K investment in a car that already has 60-100K miles? how much per year will you spend on that.

Alternatively, do you need a wagon in your day-to-day or do you want one and occasionally need a wagon?

Edit: Stick shift, AWD, wagon, not SUV/CUV is a narrow field in the US. Jetta 2.0slow should be thrown in the mix as MANY of them exist. AWD more important than stick a B4/5 Passat non-VR6 V6 is the right size but then you have to deal with the worst era of VW wiring. Saab 9/5 wagons are sweet, impossible to find and only the 2.3L turbo's are worth buying but there was a HIGH manual transmission take rate...as orphans, the cars are cheap.
