R&R OD trans 140-160 1971

Thanks for the perspective on taking apart the two units.
That lift looks good for the platform and strap! Will ask my local tool rental joint to put one in stock!
Am going back to the drive shaft removal to make more room to get the tail of the unit up.
Have been using a pile of good sized 2x6 blocks to jack up and then support each end of the unit, getting it to the point where the tail was bumping into the front end of the drive shaft, but the input shaft wasn't yet aligned with the crankshaft line.
Did have alignment tool- came with the clutch kit- but didn't have the tranny in gear to rotate, so that might have been the impediment.
It's going to be warm today so I can take my time.
Going to soak those u joint bolts and get some right sized pipes to be extensions on my box wrenches to get more leverage on those guys. then I'll inch the unit up and in.
Appreciate the wisdom.
