rear sway bar installation 444-544

I installed a rear sway bar from IPD. The instructions say to install the u-bolts so that they are tilted forward and the picture suggests about 45deg. In other words, the sway bar ends up in front of the axle tube instead of directly below it. When i installed mine, the best floor pan mounting spot put the ubolts facing straight down (in other words, the sway bar is directly beneath the axle tube). This also seemed to provide the best clearance to the trailing arms the the differential case. Has anyone else installed one of these recently and how did the ubolt position compare to my experience?
