buy a v-70 ? S90-V90

Hi:
still looking for A DD. Just missed out on 2 93 240 Classics. NOW, sitting on CL for a month is a 2000 V-70. odd story. Says he bought it from someone who brought it back from Europe 1 yr ago? Rebuilt engine, rebuilt tranny, put in clutch, in transit from Europe the turbo was removed and no longer on car or used but supposedly available 11 miles away. A/C compressor removed when engine rebuilt, so no a/c. SO. 5 SPEED, NO TURBO, NO A/C, tinted windows. 218k miles. supposedly runs good, many small parts replaced. $3k down from $4k a month ago. Says has leg trouble, can't drive shift any more, needs auto. Does this sound overly complicated?I thought 5 speeds usually OK w/out rebuild, changes needed to engine if low pressure turbo no longer installed? Wonder if a/c and turbo easily reinstalled? A good, working 5 speed could be a good DD if other problems do not arise. And I can do w/out AC as a beater if price right. Thoughts? How do I check, other than paperwork, if engine and tranny really were replaced? Ideas.? I'm more a 240 guy but V-70's are newer but troublesome. Indiana location. Thanks.
