Experience with 25mm spacers to enable use of 45mm offset newer rims 900 1993

The 15 x 6.5 x 20mm offset steel rims I use for my witner tires are having problems leaking air at the bead seals. THey are 13 years old and lots of salt is used in Wisconsin so there is a considerable amount of corrosion.

I found a set of 15 x 6.5 x 43mm offset Volvo steelies that are in nearly pristine condition but I'd need to use a 25mm spacer. HR makes what looks to be a quality product. but they arent cheap ~ $90 per pair. I'd get the wheels for a song at $60 for the set of 4.

I feel like going with the spacer would open up new options for newer wheels as older style are slowly becoming harder to come by.

OR

I've read in several restoration blogs that folks have had good luck using the "Por Patch" prodcut (from POR-15) to fill in corrosion in bead seal area and then sand smooth.

Any thoughts?
