hi sages- hoping to catch a few sages here who have hard experience with volvo brake peculiarities/remedies. friends 95 850(fwd) has problem with sluggish slow to release LR brake caliper. setup and caliper looks just like my 92 245 LR caliper setup. concluded best solution is to replace caliper. this requires removal of the metal brake line into the top of the caliper. age and rusting of caliper makes it very difficult to loosen thisline. as usual and having had much exprience with this type of a job on american cars, the line willhave to be replaced. it isconnected to a splitter on the wheel support. i have 3questions. 1.is the metal brake line in volvos special or will stock line from the parts store work? even using a flare nut brake line wrench (11mm) called for, the points on the brake nut crushed(used pb blaster). this is acommon occurrence given the soft brass of these nuts. thought of using a torch to heat the caliper around the nut to loosen it but remember being warned not to do it due to nearby gastank explosions and further damaging the brake system. 2. have a napa brake line double flaring kit which i have used on american cars. have heard that european cars use a different kind of double flare on the line end . does volvo do this too? ifso what kind adjustment do i need tomake? 3. feel free to give me any warnings or heads up tips. thanks tons oldduke
