Adapt 240 Calipers to 140? Can B Done? 140-160

I've added a '73 142 to the fleet and she has some brake issues. Super stiff pedal w/out much response. I did drive it about 30 miles home after purchase. I need to deal w/ Calipers, hoses and Booster, most likely.
After poking around, I see that 140 calipers, boosters are scarce and pricy. Since my Board Track has been mostly 544's, 700's I wanted to ask here if anyone upgraded to 240 calipers on 140 spindles w/out giant problems, or ideas.
This is simple daily driver stuff ,no Big bremb0, willwood racer moves. It would seem that 240 pieces would be less pricy, and allow vented rotors, and rear calipers could be same as 140's. I thought about 164 parts, but they are more rare I think. The mounting plate to adapt 240 Caliper would be the main piece to engineer. Thanks for the input!!!
