volvo will not start or take a jump 200 1990

My volvo - 1990 Wagon 5 speed - has been running great.

Sometimes the instrument panel goes dark - except for the clock - and usually it comes back.

It has not come back yet. It's been a couple of days.

The battery is new ( last summer )and strong.

Tonite when I went to start it up and go home, it was dead as a doornail. It does not turn over. A guy parked next to me gave me a jump, revved up his engine but it was still just as dead.

So he gave me a ride home and my car is downtown and I have no idea what is going on.

Can the instrument panel not coming on be related? I have no clue. It's been running great. It's been winterized and stickered etc.

Help!
