Use the correct power steering fluid .... 700

My 740 owner's manual also calls for Type 'F' and that's what I used until I had a bad leak, when I switched to Dexron, because I always had some around since it's used in the transmission and all our other cars. I've yet to see an explanation why Volvo specified Type 'F'. All I've read is it has different friction properties and when used in an automatic transmission in place of Dexron, gives firmer shifts.
