volvo will not start or take a jump 200 1990

I am the one that post a link to Art's web site of a diagram of the instrument cluster.

I am glad you remembered seeing it.

I hope that they are not just sticking you with a replacement alternator just because its not putting out at the moment.

I hate to scare you but your car is falling into a standard parts changing routine.

You might want to turn your head before trying to read any farther....?

They should have tested your old one either on the car, or off while connected onto a bench tester in the first place before doing a order.
They look at if they got to pull it to test it.....exchange it a put the cost of the monkey on the patron or on their suppliers as was done.
Have them show you that the old one is bad before they exchange it or there goes your proof it was not bad! In my state you can require them to give you old parts upon request.
That the trick to say that "before" any work starts!
That puts little monkey on their shoulder in most cases it's an angel and not the devil that usually camps out there.
I am betting it's too late since the exchange for that one was already done.

If they are trouble shooting the wiring by the hour that might get expensive for them to educate themselves as they may not be familiar with the exciter circuit through the dashes cluster.
Wouldn't surprise me they will want to get a replacement one of those too! That will be another 80+ dollars with their mark ups!

Good side of this, at least, there is one person there that is knowledgable enough to know something is rotten in Denmark, which is North of Sweden.😇 listen to him!
At this point you have to give them the benefit of a doubt, which ever way that is going to fall.

I hope you come out good on this as it should be better than buying a new car with all those fresh off the "design table" called the "HATCHERY OF WORMS! That HOW things are done the dealer will say followed by a shrug of their shoulders.

The Brickboard thoughts, be with you!

Phil
