Steering Rack Vendor

I am in the middle of a steering rack replacement on my 1994 940 Turbo Wagon. I have progressed to the stage of having "cracked" open the mounting bolts. With that done I intended to put the car away for the rest of the winter and continue when it warmed up. However, I've changed my mind and am proceeding now.

In my earlier related thread, someone suggested I contact a specific vendor, instead of one I chose at random, while questioning why I would pay a marked up price. It turns out the recommended alternative was considerably more expensive than the randomly chosen vendor. This was a surprise to me given the suggestion, which I know was intended to be helpful.

I would like to share my experience and the specifics of the pricing from each vendor.

Before I do, I want to be sure that such discussion is not only polite, but also welcome on this forum. Although I placed my rack order with the less expensive vendor, I realize there is such a thing as being "penny wise and pound foolish. So, I'd like to open this up to more discussion.

Let me know if anyone wants to chat about this. It may, or may not, change the recommendation.
