The two steering column U-joints also fail. Please check these for play. Volvo may still sell these steering column U-Joints for OEM.

All we 240 folks have is made in Chinese junk for steering column U-joints.

You may want to consider replacement of the power steering lines (I see your thread), using a line filter or suspending a magnetic load in the power steering fluid reservoir. Be certain you use new and clean power steering fluid your Volvo 940 auto manual recommends.

2016 Model Year 240, two door coupe, with manual transmission. Made in Europa. Hopefully we can enjoy some variable valve timing on the B230, huh?
