Idiot lights come on when engine get warm. 200 1988

Hello! Long time reader first time poster.
This is how it goes. It's fine when started up cold but after driving for 15-20 minutes the idiot lights come on when I let off the gas but go out when I accelerate this go on for another 10 min then they're on but really weak almost all the time. This started i believe yesterday after I gave my car a hose down, could be a coincident or not. Also I think I smell a faint burnt plastic smell after parking sometimes.
The way it behaves is that a normal sign of an alternator or volt regulator going bad or did I get water on the electric system when I washed the car and now having some problems because of that?
