Smog check - Timing-vacuum to distributor? 200 1986

first of all , sorry that you live is such a nanny state. Here in Md, once you manange to keep your Volvo running for 25 years, you can get Historic Plates, which eliminates all that. Plus, if your 86 passes the Calif Dynamo Smog test, it is multiple times cleaner, polution-wise than any 8 cyl SUV Cadi Escalade that passes the same test on SUV Specs.

Oddly, one of the Cures for this vintage Volvo that Fails the NOX test is to Disconnect and Plug the vaccum line that runs from the ICU - the box by the Washer Bottle, and the Vaccum Mod on the Distrib...that Saucer shaped side attached unit. This will actually bring Down the NOX emissions.

Go to another Inspection Station...or go back and Palm that Guy a 50, which is prob what he's looking for. (sarc off)

PS: you need to add more of the URL to those pix links
