Stuffing Box 200 1993

Hi,

For gland nut (on the strut tube, wrench goes in-between the springs) you may not need to counter hold as the strut tube is already anchored by the tire. Brace yourself against the tire to make the tube immovable. I wouldn't advise using the steering ignition lock to do this (to hold the steering).

Regarding the top nut (covered by round plastic cover) you'll need allen wrench size 7mm to hold it still and size 24mm wrench to tighten the nut. Some struts may come with 10mm shaft end (use 10mm open wrench) instead of an allen slot. Because of its recessed position you'll need to improvise. Just confirm these sizes for your Boge struts as they may be different. The numbers (5036, 5037) in the top nut photo refer to Volvo's special tool to do this for original strut.

As stated in many posts tackle the gland nut first for any clunking. The top nut is for "just in case" scenario.

Amarin.
