Engine shuts off then restarts 900 1993

My 1993 940 turbo wagon shut off for about a second while cruising at 70 mph then started right back up. It then did it a few more times (but would restart and run fine). It felt like the key was turned off then back on - so sudden and then would restart and run fine.

I'm wondering if it something electrical or fuel related. It had 1/2 tank of gas. So just in case I filled it up and it didn't do it again for several trips (total about 90 miles) but then it did it one more time when the tank was down to about 3/4 full.

It is so intermittent I'm worried it will be hard to pin down. For some reason I suspect it is the fuel pump.

Any suggestions where to start? It's scary here on SoCal freeways if your car shuts off! Not the most courteous of drivers if you, heaven forbid, slow someone down limping to the side.
