Spinning Plates... 120-130 1967

Hello All:

1967 Volvo 122S wagon. Happy New Year to you all, I hope you had a nice holiday.

Well, it is the end of an era. No, I am not getting rid of Virginia - quite the opposite. After 11 years she will no longer be our only daily driver. She has served us well and we have NOT served her as well as she deserves. That is changing. Starting in March, she will be garaged, and a three-year restoration project will begin. She will not be a trailer queen per se, but she will be driven a lot less, for special occasions and just to have fun. Good weather days only, needless to say.

As some of you know I live in New York State so I need to make a decision about what to do from the DMV perspective. We have some old banged-up New York plates and I want to look into other options for Virginia and transfer her current plates to the modern car (a Prius). Does anyone have knowledge about what the options are in New York State? I have heard you can actually get vintage plates that match the year of your vintage vehicle. That sounds like a cool idea. Since Virginia will go from 5,000 miles a year to under 500, are there other options I should consider?

Thanks in advance, folks.

Cheers,

Pooch
