When I look at the cap at night I see arcs of electricity right through the cap 200 1983

... with blue arcs in a rotary pattern...

What you see there is proper operation.

Your rotor and cap may have been quite worn. Increasing gap means less efficient spark spanning the gap from rotor arm to distributor cap contact. Sort of the same thing as spark plugs wear.

I'll bet you may have had some carbon tracing going on inside your old distributor cap.

Congrats.

Coke or Pepsi? As they both haz teh corn syrup. Both are nasty, yet disgusting.
