73 142 Rear Seat Back Removal 140-160 1973

Ok, I've tried everything short of the sawz-all, what is the trick to getting the seat back out on a late 142?
The seat bottom came out without a problem. Looking at the 240 instructions, the back should lift straight up and out. Mine does not budge! It's like it is screwed in somewhere, but I can't see where. I've gotten in the trunk and looked, felt up under as far as my arm can go, nothing.
Anybody have any pointers? Any of the guys that have stripped your 142 for race cars, what did you do, short of destroying the seat back?
I need to take it out to sew the seam on the back that had dryrotted from exposure.
Need some help.
Thanks
Steve!
