Flush differential? 700

Brake parts cleaner.

Yet you have a rather long and large chamber in the differential and axle tubes.

Please keep in mind, your 700-900 series Volvo rear wheel bearings are lubed by an NLGI-II grease. Not the differential oil!

You may want to consider rear hub inspection and service if over 150-175k miles.

I used brake parts cleaner to flush the manual M47 II transmission out. I had the passenger side of the car raised to enhance M47 II fluid drain.

Don't do this to an auto trans. Probably not a good idea to do this on differential.

If you want to flush, swap fluid with regular mineral oil as specific for your differential. Drive for some weeks or a few months. Drain with warm fluid. Drain over night. Drain and have a grill out with some bbq.

Then fill with a full synthetic. I'd suggest the Redline, Mobile, and I forget the other brands of synthetic differential fluid.

cheers,

dud.
