Dies When Stopping 700

Hi,

For starters I can tell that it couldn't be the ignition switch as the dashboard lights up when it dies.

I suspect something electrical.

Ignition control amplifier (aka ignition module) mode of failure is that the engine dies when hot but needed some time to cool down before engine can start again.

The ignition coil is somewhat hardy on these cars as it is supposed to supply 4 spark plugs. Its heavy duty. So rule it out.

CPS mode of failure is that the engine can die anytime, hot or cold, and may restart right up again. With a voltmeter test its electrical connector while wriggling its wire. Look for that momentary break in ohm reading. Furthermore when coming to a stop the engine vibrates more than when it is cruising so its possible any break in wiring happens this time.

The OBD is sensitive enough to catch this CPS fault if it happens. Check the OBD.

Amarin.
