Rear end ratio difference 1800 1972

I have an 1800ES that the previous owner converted from an automatic to a M41 manual 5 speed w/OD. Compared to my previous 544 which I converted to an M41 overdrive, the present cruising RPM at 70 mph seems high. Is the rear end ratio different between the M41 and an automatic on a 1972?
