The sound is much better than what was previously in there. But, as you note, more could be done to improve the performance. That was not my goal. The car is for my kids and I just wanted to get something in there that would 'work' and not fall out or break in a few months. Mounting things solidly to the door frame seems to be working well so far.

If you are aiming for acoustical quality and accuracy, there are much better methods.
