Hi Goudey,

4 things...air, fuel, timing and spark.

Checking ignition components is all about covering your bases i.e. systematic troubleshooting. This covers the "spark" thing above. The ignition may looks good but if you verify it you'll have one less guesswork.

Other posters have mentioned it. Pedal pumping is not needed in starting fuel injected cars.

Pumping pedal may work in your situation to allow air in but actually that's the idle control valve's (ICV) job. Check your ICV and throttle body. Ensure they are clean.

Also check for any loose vacuum lines (include the big ones from brake booster to the small ones).
